The Community Healthcare Network CABS Health Center is a Federally Qualified Health Center supported under Section 330 of the Public Health Service Act. CABS Health Center's mission is 100% access to primary health services with 0% disparities in the community of Bushwick, Brooklyn.
The CABS Health Center has served the Bushwick and Williamsburg communities of Brooklyn since 1969.
The CABS Health Center has become a community landmark as a principal provider of primary and preventative care services. As health and societal needs have changed over the years, the CABS Health Center has expanded beyond family planning to offer adult medicine, adolescent medicine, dental care, HIV services - including primary care, case management, counseling and testing and support services - pediatric care services, reproductive health care, prenatal and postpartum care, mental health services, immunizations, school check ups and social services. Like the other CHN centers and mobile units around the City, the CABS Health Center is increasingly becoming a one-stop, primary care facility for adults and children.
The CABS Health Center also participates in three key CHN programs. Teens P.A.C.T. (Positive Actions and Choices for Teens) brings informative messages to adolescents and the community about how to prevent adolescent pregnancy. CHN's HIV program provides comprehensive HIV prevention and care services to thousands of New Yorkers, and is one of the largest providers of HIV COBRA case management services in New York State. The Child Health Mobilization Project (CHAMP) initiative is designed to address the primary barriers faced by families in applying for Child Health Plus and Medicaid.
In a reflection of the client population, many of the staff at the CABS Health Center speak Spanish, and all materials are translated into English and Spanish.
